Concert News: Tim McGraw is coming back to Fresno … and bringing some friends

After performing one of Fresno’s best-attended concerts in 2010, country megastar Tim McGraw is returning in 2011, according to new tour dates announced on his website.

He’ll play June 9 at Save Mart Center.

McGraw’s May concert with Lady Antebellum was only topped in attendance by Taylor Swift and George Lopez. This time, he’s got a couple more rising country acts sharing the bill with him — Luke Bryan and The Band Perry.

No word yet on ticket prices or when they’ll go on sale. Save Mart Center hasn’t confirmed the show yet. Don’t be surprised if we don’t get final details until after the Feb. 4 George Strait/Reba show at Save Mart Center.

The McGraw show makes the third country show scheduled at the arena for 2011 (Keith Urban is the other). Yanni, performing May 10, and the Rock and Worship Roadshow, on March 13, are the only other non-country concerts scheduled thus far for 2011.

Chowchilla’s Shaun Silva cleans up at the CMT Awards

Here’s another “Local Boy Done Good” story: Chowchilla native Shaun Silva took the director of the year honors at Wednesday night’s CMT Music Awards, which celebrates the best videos in country music.

Silva’s body of work had already made him one of country music’s premiere directors (he’s done videos for the likes of Rascal Flatts and Kenny Chesney), but this award cements that. It’s his first win for this fan-voted award, though he’d been nominated previously, and his videos have won plenty of past CMT Awards.

His 2009 credits include: “Indian Summer” by Brooks & Dunn; “Out Last Night Out” and “I’m Alive” by Kenny Chesney; “Rain is a Good Thing” and “Do I” by Luke Bryan; “Here Comes Goodbye” and “Summer Nights” by Rascal Flatts; “Living For The Night” by George Strait; “Nightswimming/Joey” and “Keep You” by Sugarland. Outside of the country genre, he also did 3 Doors Down’s “Let Me Be Myself,”.

Here’s “Indian Summer,” which won duo video of the year as well, and was partially shot in Chowchilla:
