A reminder: Sister Helen Prejean, who wrote the influential book “Dead Man Walking,” will be speaking at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the St. Paul Catholic Newman Center. From my March 4 story:
Prejean will speak a little more than a month before Fresno Grand Opera performs the acclaimed opera based on the same title.
She will speak about her personal spiritual journey in providing counsel to condemned men on death row. She will also spend part of the day meeting with various community organizations.
Fresno Grand Opera performs “Dead Man Walking,” a 2000 opera written by Jake Heggie and Terrance McNally, in a fully staged production May 7 at the Saroyan Theatre.
Tickets are $30. There will be limited $100 VIP tickets available that include a catered reception with Sister Helen following the speech. You can order tickets here.
