The Stone Foxes are technically from the Bay Area, but the core of the band is Valley natives. Brothers Shannon and Spence Koehler grew up in the foothills and attended the same small high school that spawned Strange Vine (and the late guitar prodigy Corby Yates). Drummer (though the band members switch stuff around, so he plays bass and stuff too) Brian Bakalian is from Fresno proper.
The band should have a nice following around these parts. They’ve played here lot over the years, includes gigs at last year’s Catacomb Party and the grand opening of BitWise.
Which makes Saturday night’s show (with Strange Vine and Style Like Revelators) feel like a “local” show, possibly the biggest “local” show we’ve had in a while. By biggest I mean most hype worthy, or most likely to have a big-ass crowd waiting in line outside Fulton 55.
Now, if you want to go, but don’t wanna pay to get in (though you really should be OK with paying), we’ve got tickets to give away, courtesy of Strange Vine. To enter to win, leave a comment on this post. We want to know your favorite song from any of the three bands (make sure to tell us why). You have until 5 p.m. Friday to enter. Winners (yes, more than one) will be chosen at random and notified via email. So check your if you enter. One entry per person please.
I am personally enjoying Stone Foxes “Dying Star.”
