Three shows opening tonight in the Fresno area:
“Mary Poppins” is the big CenterStage Clovis Community Theatre production of the summer. In Thursday’s Life section, I chat with Seth Scott (Bert) and Christy Hathaway (Mary) about what it’s like to fly in the show. Fun interview, because they’re both funny! And if you’re curious about the behind-the-scenes safety preparations for flying, check out The Bee’s video by Eric Paul Zamora.
At Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater, Good Company Players opens “All Shook Up,” the Elvis jukebox musical. If you have blue suede shoes in your closet, this is the only socially acceptable time to wear them. I interview Juan Danner, who plays the leading role, in my upcoming Sunday Spotlight column.
Opening Friday night: StageWorks Fresno’s “Dogfight” at the Dan Pessano Theatre. It’s the 7 cover story, and I’ll be posting a video that Eric and I made to accompany my story.
And don’t forget: “In the Heights” is in its closing weekend at the Selma Arts Center. Here’s my review in case you missed it.
For those curious about my review schedule, my plan is to see “All Shook Up” Thursday, “Mary Poppins” Friday, “Dogfight” Saturday and “Two Gentlemen” next week.
