image1 (2)It has been fun to watch the Fresno Grizzlies rivalry with the #wackramento (er, Sacramento) Rivercats unfold as the team (and fans) prepared for the home-field match-up that happens 7:05 p.m. tonight at the Chuck.

The team has dubbed the three-game home-stand the Highway Series and commemorated the occasion with a specially designed T-shirt that features the FresKnow Nothing logo the Rivercats created as a zing to Fresno.

That didn’t really work out too well.

It is also hosting a poster contest for the first game.

Below is an example of the types of entries the team has been getting. I assume that is the #wackramento Grumpycat rendered as Matt Foley, the motivational speaker played by Chris Farley on Saturday Night Live. I’m not sure how the reference plays into the rivalry, but it’s a funny little image, ain’t it.

If you’re into the sports side of thing, Bryant-Jon Anteola gives a complete break down of the rivalry and a look at how the teams are doing this season. Hint: Fresno=good, Sacramento=meh.
