When Charlotte’s closed about a month ago, its owner and the owner of Dusty Buns both said Dusty Buns was going to take over the space. Obviously, that didn’t happen. (It’s not clear why yet. I’ll let you know when I find out more. Jose Aguilar of Casa de Tamales said they saw for the rent sign and signed a deal within a matter of days.)
Casa de Tamales is also getting closer to opening in the T.W. Patterson building on Fulton Mall at Tulare Avenue. That one is scheduled to open in late July, maybe early August, and will also carry tamales, tapas, beer and wine. And, the company is experimenting with limited lunchtime hours at what it calls “Tamale Central,” the former Organic Fresno space that is now the hub of tamale making. Stay tuned for more on that.
